The “Guide to Understanding the G20” is the result of a partnership between the BRICS Policy Center (BPC) and the Jubilee South Network. From this guide, collectively produced with civil society organizations and networks such as ABONG, the Brazilian Network for People’s Integration (REBRIP), the Institute of Socioeconomic Studies (INESC), among others, we seek to facilitate your journey into the complex universe of the G20 since its inception, through the expansion of its agenda and structure to the present moment, when the G20 is under the rotating presidency of Brazil.

For Henrique Frota, president of the C20 and director of ABONG and the Pólis Institute, the guide adds a very important element, which is dealing with the lack of information in Brazilian society about what the G20 is. “What is this summit, what does it propose, who is part of it, what are its possibilities and limitations? There is very little information translated into accessible language on this matter that can reach a broad population of Brazilians. Obviously, in civil society, there are experts who already work on the G20, who have an excellent understanding of what this space is, however, we want to further expand and democratize this understanding, for more people, for more organizations, for popular movements. The guide, therefore, is a powerful instrument for this, as it aims to present, in a language that, while respecting the complexity of the subject, is more accessible, a tool for easier reading,” he says.
